3404 Industrial Drive - Bossier City, LA 71112

The Board of Commissioners of the Bossier Levee District met in regular session on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Levee Board Office, 3404 Industrial Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana.

The President, Tim Larkin, called the meeting to order.

The first order of business was opening prayer by Commissioner Webb and the Pledge of Allegiance by Commissioner Larkin.

On motion by Stelly, seconded by Montgomery and unanimously passed, the Board dispensed with the reading of the minutes and approved the minutes of the regular board meeting held on April 10, 2019.

Kirk Thomas, Agent with Pulley-White Insurance Agency, updated the Board on three letters of nonrenewal of insurance received from The Hanover Insurance Company expiring on July 1 st , 2019.

The Board discussed the notification of nonrenewal for the Bossier Levee District received from Hanover regarding the District’s Commercial General Liability, Commercial Auto, Commercial Property and Excess Insurance. Mr. Thomas discussed that he has actively been engaged in reviewing the District’s account and has been marketing it to several insurance companies. He stated that while he has received several declinations from other carriers, he has received positive responses from United Fire, which recently conducted a site visit, and Glatfelter Public Sector. Mr. Thomas is expecting one or more quotes to be returned prior to the next Board Meeting with hopefully less than a 3 – 5% difference or a cost similar to current premiums. Therefore, no action was taken and no members of the public had comments.

Mr. Long presented a site plan submitted by Gopika Nair with the Bossier MPC for lots A, B, C, including a Resubdivision of part of lot 5, of the J.B. Whittington Subdivision for a proposed climate controlled storage building; Benton Road Office and Storage – Phase 3.

The Applications Committee and the Board conducted a preliminary review of the proposed site plan and in response concluded that there was no need for a recommendation until the District receives a permit request or request for a letter of no objection. No comments from the public.

On motion by Alley, seconded by Webb, and unanimously passed the Board approved the transfer of $250,000.00 from Huddleston Smith to the checking account for expenditures and payroll. No comments from the public.
